Relevance of cricket round the year

There has been a great buzz about the IPL, India’s fascinating cricketing tournaments, which lasts for around 2 long months every year.
Cricket continues round the year, irrespective of the forms viz. tests, ODI or t20. There is no dry patch of cricket matches like a player’s form.
Cricket is exciting to watch; it even entertains but is it not selfish in terms of the money the players get, indirectly from our pockets. It has turned into a betting scandal where players are booked for betting. The sponsors, owners and especially the players, just to fill their coffers put a lot of money on stake. In earlier days, when we heard a team bowled out for a paltry 30-40, we used to say what a brilliant performance by the bowling team but now the condition is a total contrast we say the match was ‘fixed’. The people then feel dispirited because of their ill works.
When we consider children and their overwhelming interest, they spend lots and lots of time on TVs watching the whole of the matches. No match is less than 3 hours and children develop sitting power in front of TV but not for studies. They even damage their eyesight. Sometimes they avoid going outside and playing just to see others playing and then become unfit. During March, when final exams are in the offing big cricket tournaments also complement them and seldom the fantasising world cups. These matches digress children from their studies affect their grades.
Every cricket fan loves a run-feast and a match in Wankhede Stadium, one of the smallest, can best satisfy their hunger. Maharashtra has faced a severe water crisis and especially in Latur but matches played, grounds made ready and the grass lush green through the regular sprinkling of water. Matches are a necessity but water they do not care. It is saddening to see BCCI conducting matches until 30 April following the guidelines of SC verdict. Hats off! to the BCCI for conducting these matches and the SC who gave this verdict even though the water crisis came to light around the starting of the month of March.
Political leaders and actors actresses have also turned up to the occasion and marred the image of cricket as an innocent game by owning the teams and minting money from them and at the end turning into a wagering game. The burning case is of Vijay Mallya, CMD of Kingfisher airlines and ex-RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore) head, who is a debtor to different banks for about Rs. 9000 crores have not paid it in the due time.
Everything done in limit is beneficial and cricket matches should become a follower of this disciple. These events should be organised for some months and not throughout the year akin to the present conditions.

  1. Rightly said aditya the way this tournaments are presenting themselves in india is changing or deflecting the mind of young childrens. The more no. Of days is adjusted due to more money making in this league fixtures. A typical type of way of getting large funds for bcci in future investments. At last its a waste of time but good platform for indian cricketers.

    1. Rightly said... It surely provides a platform for young buds to sprout.. but on the cost of so lot of people... Nowadays the INDIAN premier league is largely UN-indian due to lack of good players and like MNC'S they are also trying to monopolize it...
